He was predeceased by: his parents, Richard R. Hartwell and Luisa B. Hartwell (Ulloa). He is survived by: his spouse Sol Angel Pagan Hartwell; his daughters, Sol Stephanie Hartwell and Jessica Marie Nguyen (Hieu); his granddaughter Noelia Rose; and his siblings, Luis Hartwell (Patricia) and Mary Ellen Canas (Luis). He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
