He was predeceased by: his parents, William H. Nelson and Alice Smith Nelson; his son William Nelson (Bill); his daughter-in-law Bonnie Nelson; and his brother William.
He is survived by: his significant other Barbara Joan Carlson Nelson; his children, Diane Shoja (Massud) of Bloomingdale, NJ, Jon Nelson of Seymour, CT, Glen Nelson of Boston, MA and Christy Sheehy (James) of South Kingston, RI; his sister-in-law Peggy Nelson of Oxford, CT.; his grandchildren, Melissa, Michael, Heather, Jessica, Katherine, Justin, Matthew, Lauren and Timothy; his great grandchildren, Brooke, Eli, Ava, Grant, Samantha, Lia and Wyatt; his in-laws, Oscar and Helen Carlson; his brothers, David and Lawrence; and his siblings-in-law, Lois Martin, Merle Carlson and Daniel Martin. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
A reception will be held on Saturday, June 28th 2025 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the Spadaccino and Leo P. Gallagher & Son Funeral Home (315 Monroe Turnpike, Monroe, CT 06468).
