She was predeceased by: her parents, Forrest Barter and Simone Barter; her husband Ernest; her brothers, Merrill Barter, Albert Barter, Roland Barter and Robert Barter; and her son-in-law Bryce Carpenter, Jr..

She is survived by: her children, Terri Carpenter of East Haddam, CT and Steven (Colleen) of Coventry, CT; her grandsons, Christopher Hamblett (Missy Prebula) of Hebron, CT, Eric Carpenter (Lindsay) of Fairfield, CT and Adam Carpenter of Alameda, CA; her great grandchildren, Ilerdon Ballinger of Redwood City, CA and Darby Carpenter of Oakland, CA.; and her siblings, Hubert Barter of Granby, CT, Richard Barter (Cindy) of Brunswick, ME and Loretta Homan of Bath, ME..
