He was predeceased by: his siblings, Karen and Alan. He is survived by: his wife Linda Johansen; his daughters, Sharon Ashworth (Dietrick Earnhart) and Susan Sandusky (Matt); his granddaughter Amanda; his parents-in-law, Lisa, Dave Hill and Deb Ashworth; Sandie and Dave Scott.

Even before this crazy Covid time, Bob did not wish to have a funeral or memorial service.

“CAPT Ashworth was my XO, then CO when I served as Comptroller at ATC Mobile from 1981-1985. He was the best CO/XO I had in my 20 years of service, not just for his leadership qualities, but for his humor, fairness and genuine concern for all hands as human beings. As XO he was the enforcer - a really good one - but with malice toward none, as Lincoln put it. As CO he had my highest respect. We have all lost a wonderful person. For all his family: Please accept my most sincere condolences.”
