He was predeceased by: his parents, Stephen L. Sheedy (Catherine Sheedy McKenna) and Steve; his brother Michael Sheedy; and his brother-in-law Burt Kasson. He is survived by: his girlfriend Sarah "Betsy" Rowe of Mystic, CT; his son Michael Kalanta; his daughter-in-law Kayla of Saratoga Springs, NY; his siblings, Susan Kasson of Baldwinsville, NY and David Sheedy; his sister-in-law Lynn of Carmel, NY; his stepmother Sandra Sheedy of Caroga Lake, NY; and his pets, Aurora and Dylan. He is also survived by three nephews, his aunt and uncle, many cousins.
