He was predeceased by : his father Donald L. Merkle; his sister Beverly Merkle; and his aunt Beverly Austin. He is survived by : his mother Kirsten Merkle (Pedersen); his brother Erik Merkle; his sister-in-law Patricia Merkle of New Britain; his niece Beth; his nephews, Brian and Kevin Merkle; and his close friend Georgia Brezinkski.
