It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Erika A. Gankos of New Fairfield, Connecticut, who passed away on April 23, 2026, at the age of 95, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to send flowers or leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
Though Erika may no longer walk beside us, her memory will forever be enshrined in the fabric of the lives of those Erika touched, a beacon of light guiding us through the darkness. In her absence, her spirit lives on — a gentle whisper in the breeze, a ray of sunlight on a cloudy day, a reminder that love knows no boundaries.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Hans Richter and Anna Richter; and her husband Alexander. She is survived by: her children, Karin Smith (Paul) of New Milford, CT and Alex Gankos (Susan) of Danbury, CT; and her grandchildren, Kristin Hopkins, Jeff Russell, Katie Rosenberger and Kelly Damalas. She is also survived by seven great-grandchildren.
