We announce the death of Bertha Gillard-Herring in New Haven, Connecticut, who passed away on August 22, 2026, at the age of 78. She was predeceased by: her parents, Willie Brown and Bertha Nesmith-Brown; and her siblings, Willie Harvey Brown, Elder Willie Ed Brown, Henry Lee Brown, Jerome Brown and Jannie Lee Richard.
She is survived by: her goddaughter Valerie Howard; her husband Roscoe Herring, Jr.; her sons, Tyrone, Evan Gillard of New Haven and Keith A. Williams (Nicole) of Fuquay Varina, NC; and her grandchildren, Evan Gillard of Waterbury, Jayla, Jada Gillard of Richmond, VA, Alasia Gillard of Kentucky, Maria Moore of West Haven, Andrea, Marcus, Jasmine and Kennedi Williams of Fuquay Varina, NC.. She is also survived by 10 great grandchildren.
