It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Gladys Martin in New Haven, Connecticut, who passed away on May 31, 2025, at the age of 80, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, Gladys Lawrence and James Lawrence; her husband Ernest Martin; her grandson Eric Bernard Salters; and her siblings, Fannie Anderson, Geraldine Lawrence, Asa Lawrence and James Lawrence The (Gladys Martin).
She is survived by: her children, Adrianne Douglas (Russell Douglas), Ann Mitchell, Sherry Berry, William Lawrence, Mark McIntyre, Christopher Lawrence (Phyllis Lawrence), Dawn Martin and Ernest Lee Martin; her grandchildren, Kamiya Brewer (Bishop Charles Henry), Georgina Knox, Keerome Lawrence (Jamie Lawrence), Brandon Zanders, Ebony Brown, Vernasia Miller, Latonya Mitchell, William Baldwin, Titus Lawrence, Tyshek Lawrence, Karissa Lawrence, Christopher Lawrence (Tiana Lawrence), Kyra Lawrence, Andre Martin, Asia Martin and Jennifer Martin; her great grandchildren, Chazidy Jones, Ryan Redmond, Kaiden Lawrence, Kennedi Lawrence, Kobi Lawrence, Zane Zanders, Tory Robinson, Jayce Smith, Justin Smith, Jeffery Smith, Emersyn Soto, Eastyn Soto, Erielle Soto, Lawrence Mitchell, Cameron Christopher Lawrence, Aubree Martin, Aaliyah Martin, Andre Martin Jr., Nasir Martin, Ace Martin, Iyonna Martin, Bryce Martin, Erie Salters, Legend Baldwin and Malici Baldwin; her great great grandchild London Granger; and her siblings, Robert Lawrence, Suzanne Patrick, Olivia Clements and Linda Billy Gillard.
Visitation will be held on Monday, June 9th 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the New Trinity Temple Church of God in Christ (285 Dixwell Ave, New Haven, CT 06511). A funeral service will be held on Monday, June 9th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
