He was predeceased by: his parents, Albert Raper and Aline Jones of Highpoint; his son Kevin James Raper (Loura); and his siblings, Hazel, Alberta, Odessa, Charlie, Raymond, Beau and Clyde.

He is survived by: his stepmother Lizzie Yokely; his wife Lillie Dale of Washington; his grandchildren, Red, Nina, Scooch, Bam Bam, Cherry, Blue, Mookie and Mack; his mother-in-law Apostle Martha Green; and his daughters, Joyce Raper, Janet Raper-Edwards (Dennis), L. Denise Raper and Martha Raper-Driffin (Richard).
