We are sad to announce that on January 19, 2024, at the age of 96, Johnnie L. Brooks Sr. (New Haven, Connecticut), born in Camp Hill, Alabama passed away. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

He was predeceased by : his parents, John Rowell-Brooks and Ruby Jean Rowell-Brooks; his sister Jeannie Kelley-Avery; and his grandson Johnnie Belle. He is survived by : his wife Fannie Brooks; and his children, Johnnie Brooks Jr. of New York, Abdurrahim Shakir, Malcolm Brooks, Eric Brooks of New Haven, CT., Linda Miller of Auburn Alabama, Deborah Brooks-Rodriguez of Meriden, CT, Sarah Allen (Wayne) of New Haven, CT, Denise McCrae of Fayetteville, NC and Pamela Brooks of New Haven, CT.. He is also survived by 33 grandchildren, 7 grandchildren-in-law, 55 great-grandchildren, and 7 great-great-grandchildren.
