He was predeceased by: his parents, Phillip Pilletere and Carmel Pilletere; his wife Ruth (McGuire); and his siblings, Philip, Vito, Louis, Robert Pilletere, Rose Salzo, Anna DeCrescenzo, Marie Alexander and Gloria Smith.

He is survived by: his children, Richard Pilletere Jr. of New Haven, John Phillip Pilletere of Branford, Kim Marie Pilletere of Jacksonville, FL, Lisa A. Hall of East Haven and Jennifer L. Pilletere of New Haven; his grandchildren, Mary-Kate Hall, Nina Gallo, Genieve Pilletere and Giovanni Gallo; his sisters, Dolores Pilletere of West Haven and Linda "Patty" Leonardo of Hamden; and his sister-in-law Brenda Pilletere. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and cousins.
