She was predeceased by: her parents, Ernest Allen Suggs and Ella Mae Williams; her daughters, Linda Suggs, Kathy and Julie Ann Shepard; and her siblings, Thomas Jones, Catherine Jones, Vinnie Mae Turnage, Lucille Atkinson, Hilda Gray Taylor, Dorothy Mae Suggs, Linnon Thomas Suggs, Ernest Odell Suggs, Albert Earl Baptist, Theodora Moore, Barbara Jean Paige and Ella Lou Suggs.
She is survived by: her children, Chris and Valentina Shepard; her sister Melva Christine Green; her sister-in-law Thelma Marie Parker; her grandchildren, Cherele Suggs, Ebony McKelvey, Irene Johnson, Darlyn Shepard, Lacola Shepard, Felisha Suggs, Harry Lewis III, Brandon, Tiona, James Shepard, Tania, Emerson, Emmanuel and Evonte Harrington; her goddaughter Tinara Crockett; her great grandchildren, Ronnasia Shepard, Tavajia Atkinson, Robert Smith, Nevaeh Robinson, Trevon Shepard, Ranyla Shepard, Chance McKnight-Woods, Jules McKelvey, Amaya Harrington, Isaiah Shepard and D. Shepard; and her great great grandchild Kandyce Smith. She is also survived by nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 1st 2026 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the New Trinity Temple Church of God in Christ (285 Dixwell Ave, New Haven, CT 06511). A funeral service will be held on Thursday, October 1st 2026 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
