He was predeceased by : his father Guillermo Vicente Ortelio Grillo of Armas; his sister Consuelo Grillo Machado; his grandson Andrew Grillo DeJong; and his close friend Maria Ester Arguedas. He is survived by : his children, Ortelio Grillo (Awilda Diaz Grillo) and Carmen Grillo (Joseph Hala); his grandchildren, Pablo Diaz Grillo, Marcela Diaz Grillo, Angela DeJong Montgomery and Maria E. F. Grillo; his great grandchildren, Caroline and Mia; and his nephew Guillermo Machado. He is also survived by nieces and a nephew.
