He was predeceased by : his mother Georgia Giannakopoulos. He is survived by : his wife Margaret "Peggy" (Chippari); his sons, Theo and Thomas; his father Theophilaktos Giannakopoulos; and his sister Mary Stavropoulos (Theodoros).

Visitation was held on Thursday, April 18th 2024 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Dillon-Baxter Funeral Home (1276 Berlin Turnpike, Wethersfield, CT 06109). A funeral service was held on Friday, April 19th 2024 at 11:00 AM at the St. George Greek Orthodox Cathedral (433 Fairfield Ave, Hartford, CT 06114). A burial was held on Friday, April 19th 2024 at the Cedar Hill Cemetery (453 Fairfield Ave, Hartford, CT 06114).

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to St. George Greek Orthodox Cathedral or the American Cancer Society.
