She was predeceased by: her parents, Anthony Pignatella and Juliette Pignatella; her husband Ted; her children, Kevin Kowar and Pamela Kowar-Calder; and her siblings, Theresa Berloni, Donna Fitts and Anthony Pignatella.

She is survived by: her children, Theodore Kowar (Lorraine) and Kerry Ann Kowar; her children-in-law, Bill Calder and Meg Kowar (Peggy Anderton); her grandchildren, Kristofer, Kyle (Chris), Mallory (Phill), Rob and Hailey; her great grandchildren, Hayden and Charlie; her brother Donald Pignatella (Anita); her sisters-in-law, Dorothy Kowar and Florence Dickman; her godchildren, Debra Yelding and Jay Fitts; and her close friend Pauline. She is also survived by friends, cousins and many nieces and nephews.

Donations may be made in her memory to The Shrine of Lourdes in Litchfield, one of Shirley's favorite places.
