It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Richard Kovacs of Newtown, Connecticut, who passed away on October 8, 2025, at the age of 87, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Michael Kovacs and Theresa Bohar Kovacs; his grandmother Katherine; his wife Margaret; his daughter Katherine Alice; and his granddaughters, Samantha and Tierney.
He is survived by: his children, Thomas (Maureen) of Washington, CT and Wanda McGarry of Danbury; and his siblings, King (Claire), Stephen of Hamilton and Anna. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 16th 2025 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Honan Funeral Home (58 Main St, Newtown, CT 06470). A funeral service will be held on Friday, October 17th 2025 at 10:00 AM at the Newtown United Methodist Church (92 Church Hill Rd, Sandy Hook, CT 06482). A burial will be held on Friday, October 17th 2025 at the Newtown Village Cemetary (20 Elm Dr, Newtown, CT 06470).
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made in his memory to Newtown Lions Club or Newtown United Methodist Church.
