Alfred Eckert Jr. Obituary
Alfred H. Eckert, Jr., 90, of Norwalk, passed away on October 19, 2025, at Meadow Ridge in Redding, Connecticut. Born in the Bronx, NY, he was the son of the late Alfred H. and Stephanie Eckert. He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Margaret Eckert; his brother, Richard Eckert; and his daughter-in-law, Jeanne Eckert.
Alfred proudly served as a Sergeant in the U.S. Army and later worked as an Electrical Engineer. He was a devoted member of St. Thomas the Apostle Church in Norwalk and the American Legion, Post 12, in Norwalk.
He cherished spending time with his family and loved watching sports with them—especially his favorite team, the Notre Dame Fighting Irish. Alfred was an avid sports fan, a devoted admirer of John Wayne, and enjoyed the music of Bing Crosby. In his retirement, he loved tinkering on his computer and watching old movies.
He is survived by his children, Alfred H. Eckert III of Norwalk, and Lorraine Duncan and her husband, William Duncan, of Norwalk. He also leaves behind five grandchildren: Chelsea Eckert of North Carolina, Billy Duncan of Norwalk, Kristine Duncan of South Carolina, Robert Duncan of Colorado, and Corey Duncan of Norwalk. Additionally, he is survived by two great-grandsons, Tyler Sliech and Rocky Ortiz of South Carolina, as well as more than 25 nieces and nephews across the United States, and many grand-nieces and grand-nephews.
Family and friends are invited to attend calling hours at Magner Funeral Home, 12 Mott Avenue, Norwalk, on Monday, October 27, at 10:00 a.m., followed by a prayer service at 11:00 a.m. Burial will take place immediately after at St. John Cemetery in Norwalk.
