Arcenia R. Orris Obituary

Arcenia R. Orris, age 94 was called home to be with the Lord on Thursday, August 6, 2026 in Fairfield, CT. She was born in Roswell, NM to Jose Rodriguez and Miquela Lucero on May 14, 1932. She attended schools there, and met her late husband, Stephen J. Orris, Jr. of Norwalk, CT at Walker Air Force Base in Roswell in the 1950's. They were married in Roswell on September 1, 1956. Coming to Norwalk was a big change, but she thrived here, yet Roswell was always in her heart and soul.

Upon moving to Connecticut, she held positions at the Greenwich Hospital, New York Bakery, Holson Albums Corporation, Union Trust Operations Center, and the United States Postal Service serving at the Washington Street Post Office as a clerk for over thirty years. She made many friends there and mentored many young colleagues, who still think of Archie passionately to this day. She also served as a regional Hispanic Specialist and Recruiter for the Postal Service serving the CT and NY region and attending conferences in New England and the Mid-Atlantic states. She was recognized by the US Postal Service numerous times with commendations and was one of the 1996 recipients of Norwalk's "Celebrate Women" Award for her service to the Hispanic community. She also served in positions with the Marvin Elementary School PTA including treasurer and room mother.

She is survived by her daughter, Michele Orris Modugno, her husband, Dominick Modugno and her granddaughter, Hope Modugno. She is also survived by a sister-in-law, several cousins, numerous nieces, nephews, grand nieces, grandnephews and great grand nieces and nephews all of whom she was extremely proud.

She was preceded in death by her husband. her parents and eight siblings: Raymond Gallegos,; Vicente Gallegos; Victoriano Gallegos, Ajeo Garcia; Aurophita Rodriguez, Albeza Sandoval, Jewel Salois and Joseph Navas. Also, her sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Winnie Gallegos, Deluvina Gallegos, Viola Garcia, Albert Sandoval, and Roland Salois, as well as nieces and nephews.

The family would like to extend a huge debit of gratitude and thanks to the entire staff of The Carolton Chronic and Convalescent Hospital of Fairfield, especially the current and former staff of the Windsor Wing and Recreation Dept. there, You all filled mom's days with joy and peace…we truly thank you so very much!

Her family will receive friends on Monday, August 10, from 5-8 PM at the Magner Funeral Home, 12 Mott Avenue. Her Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10AM on Tuesday, at St. Thomas the Apostle Church, 203 East Avenue, Norwalk with burial to follow at St. John Cemetery.
