Duncan P. Payne Obituary

Duncan Peter Payne, Dee to those who knew him, passed away Friday February 20th, 2026, in the company of family.

Dee is preceded in death by his daughter Tracey, and survived by his wife of 53 years, Liz, sons Christopher and Bryan, daughter in-law Jessica, and grandson Dylan.

At the age of 19, Dee joined the United States Army and was stationed in Germany, where he served as a radar technician. This would later lead Dee to his favorite hobby as an amateur radio operator and a member of the Greater Norwalk Amateur Radio Club.

Dee often spoke fondly of his 35-year career at Karl Chevrolet, where he proudly retired as a Master Service Technician. In retirement, when asked about his prior career, he spoke about his tenure at Karl Chevrolet with profound love and joy.

A visitation will we held for Dee on Friday February 27, 2026 from 5-8 pm at Magner Funeral Home, 12 Mott Ave. Norwalk, CT.

It's difficult for Dee's friends and family to say goodbye to the man who, somehow, always had the right tool for every job and a witty comment to make you laugh. So, we'll have to take a cue from the amateur radio community and use a common signoff.
