He was predeceased by: his parents, Mary Louise Garrish and James Richard Sloat; and his siblings, Thomas Sloat, John Sloat and Linda Hyland.

He is survived by: his daughter Kristina Semrow (Aaron) of Prospect, CT; his grandchildren, Jacob and Hannah; his son Joseph Garrish Sloat (Amiee-Noelle) of Florida; and his brothers, Richard Sloat (Jody) of Fairfield and Michael Sloat (Barbara) of Stratford.
