George Grover Obituary
Longtime Norwalk resident, George D. Grover passed away on Monday, November 10, 2025, at Norwalk Hospital. He was 89. Born April 27, 1936, he was predeceased by his parents, Milton Grover and Iva Mae Timpson Grover, brothers Milton, Robert, Laurence, sister Ruth Morgan, son George "Doug" Jr., and grandson Michael. George is survived by his wife Cathy Cappiello Grover, daughter Lori Gandini, grandson Matthew, 3 great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
George was a proud graduate of Norwalk High School Class of 1955. He participated in choir, baseball, and football. He was a member of the NHS Alumni Association and served on the Class Reunion Committee.
George began his banking career at South Norwalk Trust Co. In 1961 George joined the Norwalk Fire Dept. He steadily grew in rank, retiring after serving for 23 years, including 6 years as deputy chief. He was also the former President & CEO of the Norwalk Municipal Employees Credit Union as well as Chairman of the Board of the CT Credit Union League.
George was President of Pietro Micca Lodge #744, Sons & Daughters of Italy of America, raising funds for their Scholarship program.
He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, gardening, sports, and traveling for both work and pleasure.
Family and friends may celebrate George's life with: Visitation on Sunday, November 16th from 3 to 6 p.m. at Magner Funeral Home, 12 Mott Avenue, Norwalk. A service will be held on Monday, November 17th at 11a.m. at Magner Funeral Home. Burial will follow at St. John's Cemetery, 223 Richards Avenue, Norwalk.
