Janet Heneghan Obituary
Janet K. (Christensen) Heneghan, 89, of Norwalk, passed away peacefully on Thursday, November 13, 2025. She was the widow of James "Doc" Heneghan.
Jan was born in Hartford on August 31, 1936 to the late Elmer A. and Katherine R. (Waters) Christensen. She grew up spending her summers swimming, boating and enjoying the outdoors at Coventry Lake. and raised her family in Norwalk CT. Jan was a longtime member of Sprite Island Yacht Club where she spent many long hours baking in the sun on the beach with friends. Jan also worked for several doctors in Fairfield County including The Avery Center.
We remember Jan as a proud feminist, a speedy driver, a voracious reader, a morning swimmer, and the queen of acronyms, one of her favs was "you're being a real PITA" (Pain In The Ass). To all who knew her, Jan was a force to be reckoned with - loving, fiercely loyal and irreverent.
Jan is survived by her sons, John J. Heneghan and his wife M. Eden Brower of New York and James J. Heneghan and his wife Mette E. Homer of Stockholm, Sweden, and two grandchildren, Lucy J. Heneghan and Jolene P. Heneghan. She is also survived by her brother-in-law Clifford J. Heisler, Jr. of Southington. In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her sister Joyce A. (Christensen) Heisler and her daughter Lynn A. Heneghan.
Donations in Jan's memory may be made to the Alzheimer's Association Connecticut Chapter https://www.alz.org. A memorial service will be celebrated at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, November 29, 2025 at Magner's Funeral Home, 12 Mott Avenue, Norwalk, CT. Visiting hours will be held before the service from 10 a.m. – 11:30 a.m. at the funeral home.
