Jonathan Gardella Obituary

Jonathan "Jon Jon" Gardella passed away peacefully on April 14, 2026.

He was born on July 8, 1980, in Norwalk to the late Violette and Lealand Gardella Sr., and spent his childhood in Marvin Beach, where he formed lifelong friendships.

Jon Jon is survived by his two sons, Evan and Giovanni, who were the center of his world; his brothers, Lealand Jr. (Laurie) and Austin (Toni); his nephews Phoenix, Stephen, Kristian, Natas, James, and Wesley; his niece Madison; and his beloved tortoise, Flash.

A talented craftsman, Jon Jon worked hard in construction, yet somehow always came home with clean sneakers and spotless hands. He took pride in how he carried himself—he wanted to "always be pretty," and he was. At the same time, he would give the shoes off his feet to anyone in need. He had a huge heart and would do anything for those he loved.

Jon Jon found joy on the water. Summer days were often spent on the boat, surrounded by friends, and his happiest moments were with his sons, Evan and Giovanni. Family meant everything to him. Whether fishing, boating, braving an overnight camping trip with 15 teenagers for his nephew's birthday, or sitting around a fire pit, time with Jon Jon, or Dad, or Uncle Jon Jon—was unforgettable.

He lived his life with positivity and a constant desire to make others happy. Always smiling, always joking, he had a gift for turning any moment into something lighter. He would not want us to mourn him, but to remember how much he loved us all.

He will be deeply missed, forever cherished, and never forgotten.

Services will be held at Magners Funeral Home on Thursday, April 30th 4:00-8:00pm and the Celebration of Life at The South Norwalk Boat Club, 17 Mack Street, Norwalk, on May 2nd 1:00-4:00pm.
