He was predeceased by : his wife Norma Lorraine Gates (Gates); his parents, Alfred Bernier and Marie Bernier (LeBlanc); his daughter Diane Meehan; and his siblings, Ferdinand, Helen, Roger, Valmont, Vincent and Jerald.

He is survived by : his son Wayne Bernier of Westport; his granddaughters, Kimberly Charles of Florence, S. C, Jessica Jacob of Wilton, CT and Stephanie Bernier of Ormand, F. L; and his great grandchildren, Walter, Samantha, Ashley, Savannah, Noah and Kayden. He is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews and cousins.
