Karen Heilman Ruta Obituary

Karen Heilman Ruta, 76 of Norwalk, loving wife of Richard Ruta, died on May 8, 2024 at Norwalk Hospital. Born in Columbia, South Carolina, daughter of Robert and Doris (Barnwell) Heilman.

Karen and Richard met at graduate school in S.C., and built a life together. They would have celebrated their 50th anniversary in July. Karen worked as business manager for several companies. She retired from Theatre Projects Consultants, an international theater design company.

Karen was known as a delightful hostess and for her delightful wit—inherited from her Father.

Karen is survived by her loving husband, Richard, her brother, Michael Heilman of Clinton, WA, his wife, Lynn, her niece, Sarah Hollenbeck, her nephew, Damon Heilman and her grand nephews, Dean and Levi Hollenbeck and James Heilman and grand niece Mia Heilman.

A memorial will be held by her family at a later time.
