He was predeceased by: his parents, Herbert Anderson Rankin and Anna Rankin (Gualtieri); and his son James Rankin, Jr.. He is survived by: his daughters, Theresa Rankin-Carle (John) and Elizabeth Rankin; his grandsons, Remington Carle, Jason Carle (Alicia) and Simon Carle of Norwich, CT; his sister Paula Paolino (Carmine) of Woodbury, CT; and his sibling's children, Rebecca Holshouser (Christopher) of Avon and Dante Paolino (Isabella) of West Hartford.
