Morton I Krieger Obituary
Morton Krieger, age 86, of Norwich passed away at Marlborough Health and Rehab center on November 14, 2021. He was born in Norwich on June 27, 1935 to the late Bernard "Ben" and Bess (Solomon) Krieger. He married Roslyn (Becker) Krieger on September 7, 1959. She predeceased him in 2019. He is survived by a daughter Lori Taylor and her fiancé Robert Shockley of Jacksonville, Fl., a daughter Beth Damble and her husband Tim of Lebanon and two grandsons Joshua and Matthew Damble.
He also leaves behind 3 nieces and 1 nephew and their families. He was a 1953 graduate of NFA, and a 1957 graduate of UCONN, where he played football for 4 years, and was a member of the ROTC. He received his Masters Degree from Willimantic State Teachers College. He was a dedicated and loving husband, father, grandfather and a wonderful teacher.
He was one of the original founders of the Norwich Youth Football League originally called Norwich Midget Football. He was a dedicated coach and referee. He created the Kelly Pride Drill Team with his students, taking them to many parades over the years and winning numerous trophies to bring back to Kelly Jr. High School!
He proudly served in the United States Army from 1959-1961 as a 1st Lieutenant. A funeral home service will be held on Friday, November 19th at 12:00 at Church and Allen Funeral Home, 136 Sachem St., Norwich. Burial will immediately follow at Brothers of Joseph Cemetery, Route 12, Preston.
