He was predeceased by: his parents, Bronislawa "Blanche" Spurgas (Stankiewicz) and Joseph Spurgas; his grandson Zachary Spurgas; and his siblings, Irene Collins, Dorothy Mitchell, Edwin Spurgas, Joseph Spurgas and Raymond Spurgas.
He is survived by: his wife Dorothy (Yodice); his children, Jo-Ann Stadelmaier (David), Richard Spurgas Jr. (Kim), Lisa Robison, David Spurgas (Erin) and Kevin Spurgas (Katie); his grandchildren, Jessica Pia (Bill), Nicole Robison, Brittany Spurgas, Desiree Spurgas, Cameryn Spurgas, Cienna Spurgas and Leonardo Spurgas; and his great grandchildren, Connor Robison and Caelan Pia.
