He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Charles Edward Shoemaker and Lucy Jane Troop; his wife Beverly H. Mitchell; his daughters, Deborah Darden (Charles) of Franklin, VA and Kimberly Gileau (John) of Voluntown, CT.; his grandchildren, Shannon Webster (Daniel), Jennifer Perrone Murray (Jimmy Don), Kyle Gileau (Jessica) and Madison Gileau; his great grandchildren, Nolan, Ryan Webster, Carter and Carson Gileau; his daughter Candice Perrone Shoemaker; and his grandson Troy Paul Sawyer.
