He was predeceased by: his parents, John A. Smolkis and Anna Smolkis (Kudzma). He is survived by: his wife Patricia Smolkis (DiChiara); his sons, Richard C. Smolkis (Lisa) of Bethlehem, Michael A. Smolkis (Jessica) of Waterbury and Mark J. Smolkis (Kristine) of Naugatuck; his grandchildren, Kyra, Kevin and Emma; his sister Eleanor Mikalchus; and his sisters-in-law, Helen Searles (Vernall) and Donna Neuman. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and close friends.
Visitation was held on Wednesday, October 14th 2026 from 9:00 AM to 10:30 AM at the Naugatuck Valley Memorial - Fitzgerald Zembruski (240 N Main St, Naugatuck, CT 06770). A Mass of Christian burial was held on Wednesday, October 14th 2026 at 11:00 AM at the St. John of the Cross Church (1263 West St, Middlebury, CT 06762). A burial was held on Wednesday, October 14th 2026 at 12:15 PM at the St. James Cemetery (249 Cross St, Naugatuck, CT 06770).
