He was predeceased by: his parents, George Albert Mathes Sr. and Minerva Bonner. He is survived by: his wife Joan Ballou Mathes; his children, Robert (Rob), Richard Mathes (Kathy) and Janna Carello (William); his grandchildren, Emma, Sarah, Lily, Richard (Jessica), Andrew and John; his great grandchild Peyton; his pet Minnie B; Joyce Kelley (Arthur), Dianne, Bonnie and Sharon.
A wake was held on Friday, October 2nd 2026 at 5:30 AM at the Clarinet Students After School. A funeral service was held on Friday, October 2nd 2026 at 11:00 AM at the First Congregational Church of Old Greenwich (108 Sound Beach Ave, Old Greenwich, CT 06870). A celebration of life was held on Friday, October 2nd 2026 at 2:00 PM at the same location.
