She was predeceased by: her husband Roman Popel; her parents, Semen Schiraj and Efrosinia Sen Schiraj; and her brother John Schiraj (Mitzi) of Waukisha, Wisconsin.. She is survived by: her children, Natalia Nicefaro (David) of Wallingford, Myron Popel of Ansonia and Bohdan Popel (Suzanne) of Woodbridge; her grandchildren, Matthew, Nicole, Samantha, Brandon, Nicolas, Joseph (Samara) and Michael; her great grandchild Kingston; her sister Valentina Chudowsky of Wethersfield; her sister-in-law Irene Conte (Harry) of Cypress; and her nephews, John and Alex Schiraj.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Mary's Ukrainian Orthodox Church, 50 Fowler Street, New Haven, CT 06515.
