He was predeceased by: his wife Elizabeth M. Thayer (Beaver); his parents, Clarence Thayer and Mary Olsen Thayer; and his son Edward C. Thayer Jr.. He is survived by: his sons, Richard W. Thayer of Oxford, Thomas E. Thayer of Seymour and Eric R. Thayer of Oxford; his sister Evelyn McCarthy of Seymour; and his brothers-in-law, George A. Beaver of Waterbury and Robert C. Beaver of Bethlehem. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
