With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Alma Mayo of Putnam, Connecticut, who passed away on June 23, 2025 at the age of 84. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
In the quiet moments of reflection, amidst the gentle rustle of leaves and the whispered song of the stars, we shall carry Alma's memory with us, a guiding light illuminating the path ahead. May Alma's journey be filled with peace and serenity, and may she find rest in the embrace of eternity.
She was predeceased by: her husband George G. Mayo, Sr.; her parents, William Fitts and Aldea Fitts (Lamille); and her children, Lloyd F. Mayo, Audrey Weatherholt and Leo Mayo.
She is survived by: her children, George G. Mayo, Jr. (Sandy) of Pomfret, Bruce R. Mayo (Faith) of Putnam, Darlene M. Murray of Putnam and Todd N. Mayo of Putnam; and her siblings, Lawrence Fitts (Joan) of East Killingly and Perne Barnes (Lloyd) of Stafford Springs. She is also survived by 28 grandchildren, 49 great grandchildren and ten great great grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 8th 2025 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Smith and Walker Funeral Home (148 Grove St, Putnam, CT 06260). A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, July 9th 2025 at the Abington Cemetery.
