He was predeceased by: his wife Irene F. Shaffer; his parents, Gladis Tuttle and William Shaffer; his brother William Shaffer; his son Phillip; and his granddaughter Jessica.
He is survived by: his children, Robert Jr. (Lisa), Susan Kachur (David) of Putnam, Timothy (Deborah) of Griswold and Christopher of Killingly; and his grandchildren, Eric, Rory, Natasia, Jenilee, Julia, Hunter, Andrew, Timothy and Thomas. He is also survived by Twenty one Great Grandchildren, two Great Great Grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, August 7th 2025 from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Gilman & Valade Funeral Homes (104 Church St, Putnam, CT 06260). A funeral service will be held on Thursday, August 7th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the same location. A graveside service will be held on Thursday, August 7th 2025 at 12:00 PM at the St. Mary Cemetery - Putnam (218 Providence St, Putnam, CT 06260).
