Arthur Adams Obituary

Arthur Laurent Adams, 79, of Quaker Hill, passed away peacefully Wednesday, January 19, 2022, at L&M Hospital after a brief illness.

Art was born November 5, 1942, in Windham, CT, to the late Wilda (Lussier) and Roderick Adams. Art grew up in Willimantic and attended St. Mary Catholic School. His family moved to Coventry in his early teens and in 1961 he graduated from Windham Tech.

Art was in the Civil Air Patrol, which later led to his becoming a Connecticut State Police officer in the late '60s. After getting married and starting his family, Art left the State Police but continued working in the security field for almost 50 years. He also worked at Mitchell College, New England Savings Bank, and finally Mohegan Sun for more than 20 years before his retirement in 2019.

Art had a great sense of humor and always made friends wherever he went. If you were meeting Art for the first time, more than likely you would find he knew someone you were related to. Art enjoyed spending time with family and friends, and after he retired, he especially enjoyed spending time outside with his dear friend Nancy, birdwatching. Art was an avid UCONN Women's Basketball and Boston Red Sox fan.

Art is survived by his son Shawn Adams; his daughter Christianna Niedojadlo and her husband Robert; his son John Adams and his wife Sherry; his grandsons Nicholas Niedojadlo and Austin Adams; his brother Gerry Adams and his wife Claudet; and his niece Jaclyn Wydra and her husband Paul.

Art was very much loved by his family and friends and will be dearly missed. The family would like to thank the nurses and doctors in the ICU at L&M Hospital for caring for him in his final days and the kindness they showed to him and his family.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, January 27, 2022, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mary Star of the Sea Church, 10 Huntington Street, New London, CT. Interment will follow at Saint Joseph Cemetery, Club Rd, Willimantic, CT 06226.
