He was predeceased by : his parents, Patrick McLaughlin and Margaret McLaughlin (Mooney); and his brothers, Charlie and Billy McLaughlin. He is survived by : his wife Kathleen McLaughlin (Gillen); his children, Robert McLaughlin (Kathleen), Jean Anne Dobrowolski (John), John McLaughlin (Maria), Kathleen Timony (Patrick) and Brendan McLaughlin (Timothea); his grandchildren, Ryan (Ben), Robert (Alanna), Casey (Stephanie), Margaret (Myles), Owen, Nora, Kayla, Clara, William, Evan, Gavin, Kieran, Colin and Conor; his great grandchild Aspen Lily Jean; and his sister Peggy Kirchner.
