He was predeceased by: his parents, Margaret Peltier (Leona) and Dwight E. Ransom; his siblings, Gail, Rex and Sharon; his son-in-law Greg; and his grandson Richard Douglas.

He is survived by: his wife June Blake Ransom; his children, Terri Sherwood (Douglas), Valerie Hoffman and Richard Ransom; his grandchildren, Kristen and Michael; his stepgrandchildren, Karl, Kristen and Katherine; his brother George Ransom; his great grandchildren, Charlotte, Noah, Everett, Lawson, Saylor and Laelynn; and his stepgreat-grandchildren, Katherine and Robert. He is also survived by several cousins, nieces, nephews, grandnieces, and grandnephews.
