As we bid farewell to this cherished soul, solace is taken in the memories held dear — the laughter shared, the wisdom imparted, the moments of quiet reflection in their presence. Though Russell may no longer walk among us, his spirit lives on in the echoes of his kindness, the warmth of his embrace, and the light of his enduring love.
He was predeceased by: his wife Eugenia "Jean" Dounouk Machnicz; his parents, Andrew Machnicz and Anna Hudak Machnicz; and his siblings, Helen Casner, Dimitro and Walter Machnicz.
He is survived by: his sons, Gregory Machnicz (Laura) of Fairfield, Andrew Machnicz of Woodbury and Stephen Machnicz, Sr. (Marietta) of Seymour. He is also survived by grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren; as well as several nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held on Monday, January 5th 2026 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Wakelee Memorial Funeral Home (167 Wakelee Ave, Ansonia, CT 06401). A funeral service was held on Tuesday, January 6th 2026 from 10:30 AM to 11:00 AM at the same location. The military honors was held on Tuesday, January 6th 2026 at 11:30 AM at the Pine Grove Cemetery (15 Church St, Ansonia, CT 06401).
