He was predeceased by: his father Luis; and his siblings, José (Silva), Ilda, Silva and Isaura Cardoso.

He is survived by: his wife Ellen; and his brothers, Artur, Augusto and Alvaro. He is also survived by sisters-in-law, nieces, and nephews.
