He was loved and cherished by many people including: his wife Nancy Jennifer George Curtiss; his parents, James G. Curtiss III and Janice McLean Curtiss; his daughters, Jennifer Curtiss Nickle (James Nickle) and Janice Virginia Koch (John); his grandchildren, Julia Elizabeth Nickle, Jamison Curtiss Nickle, John "Jack" Francis Koch V and Remington Curtiss Koch; and his sister Cindy Curtiss Tsianco. He was also cherished by several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews and many dear friends.

A funeral service was held on Thursday, August 27th 2026 at 10:00 AM at the First Baptist Church of Shelton (178 Leavenworth Rd, Shelton, CT 06484).
