He was predeceased by: his wife Bernadette Barnett (Burns); his parents, William J. Barnett and Verna Barnett (Anderson); and his siblings, Lawrence Barnett and Shirley Harrison.

He is survived by: his children, Leisa Djiounas of Manchester, Shelleen Silvia (Michael) of Cranston, RI, Richard Barnett, Jr. (Kristen) of Amston and Jennifer Pavano (Michael) of Marlborough; his grandchildren, Ben Djiounas (Tiffani), Christopher Djiounas, Aaron Greenwood, Paige Greenwood, Jack Barnett, Emerson Melquist, Callan Melquist and Delaney Melquist; his great grandchildren, Isabel Djiounas, Morgan Djiounas, Georgia Djiounas and Miles Djiounas; and his sister-in-law Sally Barnett.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made in Richard's memory to the American Heart Association.
