George left this world on May 26, 2025 at the age of 85, leaving a void in the lives of so many people. He was predeceased by: his parents, John Schmidt and Helen Schmidt (Smith); and his siblings, Marion Chambers (Norman) and John "Jack" Schmidt. He is survived by: his children, George A. Schmidt Jr. (Lisa Feola) and Carleen Rubin (Larry); and his grandson Ryan Horner of Southington. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held on Wednesday, June 4th 2025 from 10:30 AM to 11:30 AM at the Plantsville Funeral Home (975 S Main St, Plantsville, CT 06479). A funeral service was held on Wednesday, June 4th 2025 at 11:30 AM at the same location. The military honors was held on Wednesday, June 4th 2025 at the State Veterans Cemetery (317 Bow Ln, Middletown, CT 06457).
