He was predeceased by: his parents, Maurice Fitzgerald and Helen Fitzgerald (Beckwith); his sisters, Helen "Snookie" Gorski, Ana "Billy" Petit and Marguerite "Sally" Robillard; and his son-in-law Robert Carpenter (Bob).
He is survived by: his children, Holly Carpenter, Jody Benton of Plantsville, Shawn Fitzgerald (Jill) of Bristol and Kelly Smith (Scott); his grandchildren, Patrick Fitzgerald (Bronwyn) and Hannah Skinner (Andrew); his children, Zac, Billy, Keegan, Brenna Smith and Kylie Benton; his great grandchildren, Samuel, Naomi, Miriam Skinner and Theodore "Teddy" Fitzgerald; and his brother Henry Fitzgerald (Joan). He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
