We announce the death of Magda W. Rooney (Stonington, Connecticut), who passed away on July 29, 2026, at the age of 88. Magda will be remembered by family members, friends, and others whose lives were connected in meaningful ways. She was predeceased by: her husband Brian Rooney of Manchester, CT. She is survived by: her daughter Brigid; her grandchildren, Cora, Sean, Conor, Liam, Clare and Timothy; her sister-in-law Anita Walther of Nierstein, Germany; her nephew Oliver Walther; her great-nieces and great-nephews, Melanie, Michelle of Heidesheim and Rhine; her niece Silvia Engelhardt; her friend Noreen McDonald; and her siblings-in-law, Dennis Rooney of Stafford, CT and Geraldine Dearden of Palmer, MA.
Memorial donations may be made in honor of Magda to Beavertail Lighthouse Museum Association or the Watch Hill Conservancy, specifically for the Napatree Point conservation area.
