Mary McGrath Thacher Obituary

It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Mary McGrath Thacher of Stonington, Connecticut, who passed away on July 28, 2025, at the age of 91, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

She was predeceased by: her parents, Raymond Dyer McGrath and Anne Creveling Serre McGrath; her husband Peter Shaw Thacher; her daughter Anne Creveling Thacher; and her sister Anne McGrath Lederer.

She is survived by: her children, Linda Thacher Visscher (Pieter Visscher) of Mystic and Peter Shaw Thacher Jr. of Stonington; her grandchildren, Adeline Shaw Visscher and Adrian Hand Visscher; her niece Sloane Lederer (Lucius Palmer); her nephew Andrew W. Lederer; her great-nephew Schuyler Beekman Palmer; her great-nieces, Phebe Schmidt and Natalie Palmer; and her sister-in-law Patricia D. Lipe.
