We announce the death of Arlene Marie Sopp of Stratford, Connecticut, who passed away on September 4, 2026, at the age of 77. She was predeceased by: her parents, Harvey Grindrod and Winifred Grindrod (Malstrom); her husband John G. Sopp of Vincent's Medical Center; her grandson Joshua Luis Alvarado; and her sister Marjorie Bednarz.
She is survived by: her daughters, Christine Grindrod, Allison Merrill, Shannon Sopp and Jessica Markland (Jim); her grandchildren, Caitlyn, Jonathan, Ryan, Joelle, Stephan Jr., Sophia, Madisyn, Tyler, Cayla and Angelo of Lene's Little Ones; her great grandchildren, Anthony, Mason, Capri, Wren and Carter; and her sisters, Donna Sivak (George) and Katherine Rundgren. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held on Tuesday, September 15th 2026 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Adzima Funeral Home (50 Paradise Green Pl, Stratford, CT 06614). A Mass was held on Wednesday, September 16th 2026 at 10:30 AM at the Our Lady of Grace Church (497 Second Hill Lane, Stratford, CT 06614). A graveside service was held on Wednesday, September 16th 2026 from 11:45 AM to 12:00 PM at the Union Cemetery (23 Temple Ct, Stratford, CT 06615).
