He was predeceased by: his parents, Russell Hostetter and Mildred Hostetter (Jablonski); his son-in-law Brian Garrow; and his siblings-in-law, Marilyn, Philip Hodson and Lawrence Fournier.

He is survived by: his wife Sharon Fournier Hostetter; his children, Michael Hostetter Jr. and Lynn Oxendine; his stepdaughters, Kristen Broedlin, Jennifer Broedlin and Sharon Garrow; his grandchildren, C. J. Oxendine, Brian Garrow, Charlie Garrow and Rudy Broedlin; and his siblings-in-law, Ronald Fournier (Patricia) and Mary Lou Fournier.

During Covid, Mike returned as Deputy Chief for 15 months.
