He was predeceased by: his parents, Arthur Thayer and Pauline Thayer (Wohlgemuth); and his brothers, Arthur and Phillip Thayer. He is survived by: his wife Jan Thayer (Skorka); his children, Greg (Erica) of Winter Garden, FL, Brian of Suffield, CT. and Eileen Smith (Matt) of Franklin, MA; his grandchildren, Lauren, Thomas, Katie, Kristen Smith, Jackson and Brooke Thayer; and his siblings, Larry (Beth), Paul (Donna), Janet Thayer and Lois Hornyack (John).
Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 21st 2026 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Nicholson & Carmon Funeral Home (443 East Street N, Suffield, CT 06078). A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Friday, May 22nd 2026 at 11:00 AM at the Sacred Heart Church (446 Mountain Rd, Suffield, CT 06078).
